Hymnus

Hymnus

Hymnus sings at several local events, including the New Prague Community Concert, as well as at area Churches, has caroled in the Community, participated in the annual parade of lights, performed excerpts of of the Opera "Prince Igor" with the Cannon Valley Regional Orchestra, and has been an annual choral group carolingyearly at the Gutherie Theater in Minneapolis.  Hymnus toured England, singing at York Minster, Westminster Abbey, and Westminster Cathedral in 2004, and performed in Venice and Rome, Italy in 2006.  In March of 2007, Hymnus traveled to New York City and sang John Rutter's "Mass of the Children" as part of a larger choir, under the direction of Maestro Rutter in Carnegie Hall.  

Goals

Goals and challenges for Hymnus are:

 *To improve the performance level of members in style and technique.

*To introduce local audiences to great compositions.

*To continue to build the self-confidence of Hymnus members by demanding high standards of performance and behavior.

*To enlighten, enrich, and empower participants with a fine arts opportunity not usually found in a rural area.
